1.潮州市老干部（老年）大学简介
潮州市老干部（老年）大学创办于1998年7月至今近20载。在市委市政府的关心和领导下，在市委老干部局有直接管理和社会各界大力支持下，坚持老年大学办学宗旨，发挥“规范、科研、创新”的办学特色，学校规模逐步扩大，教学质量不断提高，学校从初办时6个班4门课程193人发展到现在66班20门课程学员2750多人的规模。
学校先后获得“全国先进老年大学”、“全国老年教育宣传工作先进单位”、“全国示范老年大学”等光荣称号，被中国老年大学协会确定为地级市老年大学规范化十大名校之一。
学校注重科研兴校，新编各类老年大学教材；同时，学校还不断完善管理体制，建设教师队伍、科研队伍、工作人员队伍、学员骨干队伍等；上好第一课堂，丰富第二课堂，拓展第三课堂，不断丰富和完善老年生活。
Brief Introduction to Chaozhou Veteran Cadres U3A
Chaozhou Veteran Cadres U3A has existed for nearly 20 years since founded in July 1998. The scale of the school is gradually enlarged and the teaching quality is continuously improving by insisting on the purpose of running a U3A and exerting the characteristics of “standard, scientific research and innovation” under the care and leadership of the municipal government, with the direct management of the municipal bureau of veteran cadres and the strong support of all sectors of the society. The school has developed to the present scale of 66 classes, 20 courses and 2,750 students from 6 classes, 4 courses and 193 students at the beginning.
The school won honorable titles of “National Advanced U3A”, “National Advanced Unit for the Elderly Education Propaganda” and “National Model U3A” etc. and was identified as one of the ten most prestigious standardized U3As of prefectural-level cities by China Association of the University for the Aged(CAUA).
The school pays attention to scientific research and recompiling all kinds of textbooks for the U3A, and also constantly improves its management system and builds the faculty of teachers, scientific research team, staff team and student backbone team, etc. It constantly enriches and perfects the life of the elderly by doing well in the first class, doing enrichment in the second class and dong expanding in the third class.

潮州市位于广东省最东端，东邻福建，西连揭阳，南接汕头，北通梅州，濒临南海，是广东的“东大门”。全市面积3146平方公里，市区面积1414平方公里，建成区面积56平方公里，海岸线长136公里，人口274万。

地处珠三角和海峡西岸两大经济区域之间，是深圳、汕头和厦门三个经济特区的交汇点，也是广东省距台湾最近的城市，公路、铁路、港口等四通八达，交通便利，成为西连珠三角、东接闽浙、北通湘赣的华南沿海地区区域性重要交通枢纽。

潮州历史悠久，人杰地灵，是“潮文化”的发祥地。潮州音乐、潮剧、潮州铁枝木偶戏、枫溪手拉朱泥壶制作技艺等15个项目被列入国家级非物质文化遗产名录, 全市现有文物景点1400多处，其中国家重点文物保护单位9处、省级重点文物保护单位26处，“城、山、江、海、湖”特色明显，是岭南著名的旅游胜地。

潮州属亚热带海洋性季风气候，年平均气温21.4摄氏度左右，气候温和，雨量充沛，终年常绿，四季宜耕。

Chaozhou located in the most eastern end of Guangdong Province, near Fujian in the east, adjacent to Jieyang in the west, linked Shantou in the south, connecting Meizhou in the north and near the South China Sea, is the “East Gate” of Guangdong. The city area is 3,146 square kilometers in total, including 1,414 square kilometers’ urban area and 56 square kilometers’ built area, with coastline of 136 kilometers in length and 2.74 million’s population.

B Superior Location
It is located between the two major economic zones of the Pearl River Delta area and the west coast of the strait and is the intersection of the three special economic zones of Shenzhen, Shantou and Xiamen and is the nearest city to Taiwan in Guangdong Province. Its transportation of road, railways and ports etc. are very convenient, becoming an important regional transportation hub connecting the Pearl River Delta area in the west, Fujian and Zhejiang in the east and coastal area of South China like Hunan and Jiangxi in the north.
C Profound Cultural Background
Chaozhou has a long history, and is a place propitious for giving birth to great men and is the birthplace of “Chao” culture. Fifteen Chaozhou items, such as Chaozhou music, Chaozhou opera, Chaozhou iron-branch puppet show and the making technique of Maple Creek hand-made red -clay teapot etc. are included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List. The city's existing cultural relics are more than 1400 places, including 9 National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units and 26 Provincial Key Cultural Relics Protection Units. It is a famous tourist destination in south of the Five Ridges for its distinct characteristics of “cities, mountains, seas and lakes”.
D Excellent Ecological Environment
Chaozhou is of subtropical marine monsoon climate, the annual average temperature is about 21.4 Celsius degrees, the climate is mild and the rainfall is abundant, and it is evergreen in the year-round and arable for four seasons.
