Introduction of Toowoomba culture：
U3A in Toowoomba Inc. was founded in 1990. There are now 2000 members and we offer 180 classes every week. Our classes cover Academia, Physical and Social all aspects of Healthy and Active Ageing. U3A in Toowoomba is managed and operates entirely with Volunteers. We have 140 volunteer Tutors and a Board of Management of eleven.
Toowoomba is known locally as a centre of excellence in education. With 32 primary schools, 18 secondary schools, the Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE (Technical and Further Education), University of Southern Queensland (USQ), University of the Third Age (U3A, education is one of Toowoomba’s greatest assets where one third of the population is engaged in formal education.
Our Toowoomba region is a rich tapestry of many different cultures, 120 ethnic backgrounds, 117 languages and 80 religions make up the fabric of our city. Toowoomba is an inclusive, peaceful and tolerant society which fosters friendship and collaborative partnerships among citizens.
Crisp winter air, knee-deep autumn leaves, clear summer days and a riot of colour in spring; where you can experience all four seasons distinctively right here. Just 90 minutes from Brisbane, Toowoomba crowns the edge of the Great Dividing Range 700 metres above sea level. Known as Queensland’s Garden City, relax in one of our 150-plus parks and gardens.
